for waking up with us. i'm gurvir dhindsa. >> glad to have you along. before we get to tony and our forecast up here, flooding is causing a left yes to fail this morning. it is forcing more people to evacuate. >> residents in central wisconsin starting fleeing their homes when that levee started to fail last night. wisconsin river has cut off people in one neighborhood in the town of portage. it is not clear exactly how many of the 300 residents are now stranded. they did not heed the warning to evacuate. the levee has not completely collapsed but officials say it is leaking. >> we have a little bit of wet weather out there this morning. >> some rain showers across the area. none ever them particularly heavy at this hour but we could show some more rainfall develop during the morning and during the daytime and some of it could be heavy at times. we'll start with the satellite- radar composite, show you how things are shaping up across the region. there you go. you can see a pretty good amount of rain. let me tell you this. we have a variety of radars that we look at. this one is overplaying

. thank you for being with us. i'm steve chenevey. >> i'm sarah simmons for for gurvir dhindsa. >> we do start with a traffic alert. they call it terrible traffic tuesday according to aaa mid- atlantic. can you thank a combination of back to school and back from vacation traffic. aaa says the d.c. metro area has the second worst grid lock in the nation and it doesn't help that half of the the three million commuters drive to work alone. can you expect busier than normal roads today as students in northern virginia start the new school year. >> it will be a nice day to go back to school. it will be a little warm if them as the day heads on. >> but during the morning hours when you are heading to school, not bad at all. temperatures in the 60s for the most part. 70degrees right now in washington. let's take a look at the current conditions being reported at reagan national where the report is 70 degrees. relative humidity is at 73%. winds out of the south at 10 miles per hour. barometric pressure is on the rise. here is a look at the satellite- radar composite for the region. and things lo
